A dustup between a Detroit Lions fan and Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur during a Week 14 matchup has resulted in serious consequences for the fan. Fahad Yousif, a season ticket holder, had his season ticket privileges revoked and was banned from all NFL stadiums after he got into a verbal confrontation with LaFleur before kickoff.
Yousif told CBS News Detroit that he was holding the American flag on the field when the incident occurred. He admitted to trash-talking the opposing team, but believes the incident was “blown out of proportion.” LaFleur appeared to get into a shouting match with Yousif, who was giving the throat-slash sign to the Packers players. LaFleur described the experience as “something I’ve never been a part of before.”
Yousif was asked to leave the game at halftime, but it was only recently that he learned his season ticket privileges had been revoked, and he would never be able to be a season ticket member again. He was also informed that he has been banned from all NFL stadiums until he completes an online code-of-conduct course.
Yousif expressed regret for getting into the altercation, but believes the consequences were excessive. He stated, “It hurts. It hurts bad. To completely revoke my tickets and never let me be a season ticket member again, it hurts.”
