Given their strong reputations around the NFL, it would be no surprise if Detroit Lions coordinators Dan Campbell and Morris Johnson don’t receive head-coaching jobs this cycle. However, if they do depart, the team would likely suffer further losses as the two would likely bring their assistants with them.
Despite the potential loss of the coordinators, Lions players, including Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow, remain confident that the team’s foundation and talented roster will enable them to succeed. Ragnow cites the strong relationships and commitment to success within the locker room as reasons for his optimism.
“We have a great group of guys here, and we’re built to win,” Ragnow said. “It’s going to be tough for us to not have success with the foundation that Brad (Holmes) and Dan (Campbell) have set with the cornerstone players in this locker room.”
While players would certainly miss any coaches who leave, they understand it’s a natural part of the process. Rookie corner Terrion Arnold wishes his coach Morris Johnson well if he departs, but adds with a smile, “But I told him, ‘If you take a job somewhere else and we play against you, we’re gonna beat you’.”
