Liberal media admits mistake on President Biden’s mental state

Dozens of influential media figures were asked what they got wrong in 2024, and several admitted to eating crow over President Biden’s mental acuity. After his poor debate performance against Donald Trump in June, President Joe Biden’s decision to leave the presidential race was awash in speculation about his mental decline.

MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan, who initially dismissed Republicans for calling out Biden’s mental decline, says he was “completely, utterly, totally, embarrassingly wrong” about Biden’s lack of mental competence.

Tim Miller, the former MSNBC contributor and ex-GOP strategist, judged Biden “too generously,” believing he was concerned about protecting democratic institutions. However, he revealed himself to be less concerned with institutions and more focused on his legacy.

Brian Lehrer, the host of “The Brian Lehrer Show,” dismissed those who said Biden was unfit to run for re-election, only to later watch the debate and admit he was wrong.

Matt Yglesias, a progressive journalist, thought Biden would prove his doubters wrong at the debate, but instead, the “whole world” thinks the media was covering up his decline.

Joshua Barro, author of the book “Very Serious,” said he misread the signs, believing Biden’s scripted performances were satisfactory, but in reality, he was incapable of engaging in unscripted settings.

These influential media figures reflect that many, including themselves, were wrong about President Biden’s mental acuity, and they are now eating crow over their initial perceptions.
