LeBron James and Son Bronny Decline Invitations to Compete in 2025 Kia Skills Challenge and Rising Stars Game
LeBron James and his son Bronny James have decided to turn down the opportunity to make history again by not participating in the 2025 Kia Skills Challenge at NBA All-Star weekend, according to league insider Chris Haynes. Additionally, Bronny declined an invite to join the Rising Stars team as a G League player.
This would have marked the first time a father-son duo would have competed in the Skills Challenge. The Jameses previously made history in the Lakers’ season opener, the first time a father and son played together in the same NBA game.
Bronny is currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers and their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. In seven G League games, he is averaging 13.4 points, 3.9 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 36.6/21.2/66.7. LeBron, who was named an All-Star for a record 21st time, is averaging 23.7 points, 9.0 assists, and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 51.3/39.8/76.3. The Lakers enter their next game against the Boston Celtics at 23-18, fifth in the Western Conference.
