Lauren Sanchez’s Racy Inauguration Look Sparks Backlash
Lauren Sanchez, the fiancée of Jeff Bezos, the chairman of Amazon, has sparked backlash on social media after unveiling a racy look at Donald Trump’s inauguration. Sanchez wore a white Alexander McQueen pantsuit featuring a fitted satin-trimmed blazer with a low-cut V-neck and wide-leg trousers. She skipped a traditional blouse and instead opted for a risqué white lace bustier.
The outfit, which retails for at least $1,800, was criticized by many on social media who deemed it inappropriate for a state occasion. “Jeff Bezos future wife Lauren Sanchez is incredibly inappropriately dressed for a state occasion,” one critic wrote. “Someone should have told her that having her white lace bra out on display is not acceptable.”
The backlash was further fueled by Mark Zuckerberg, who was seated next to Sanchez and appeared to be looking at her chest. Many social media users jokingly referred to the moment as “Fact Checking.”
Presidential fashion historian Summer Anne Lee from the Fashion Institute of Technology said she was left stunned by Sanchez’s outfit, calling it a “first” in inauguration fashion history. However, some people defended Sanchez, saying she was simply being herself and didn’t need to change for the occasion.
Meanwhile, Melania Trump, the First Lady, opted for a more modest navy Adam Lippes tailored navy silk wool coat, completing her look with a navy silk wool pencil skirt and an ivory silk crêpe blouse.
