Dr. Jarrod Moser, a Los Angeles-based obstetrician-gynecologist, is facing serious allegations after a former patient accused him of offering to pay her for sex and referring to himself as her “sugar daddy.”
The alleged incident occurred in 2018, when the patient, referred to as “AB” in court documents, was seeking a second opinion on a medical issue from Dr. Moser. According to a complaint filed with the California Medical Board, “Dr. Moser initiatively discussed with AB his past experiences with … sexual acting out with patients and made unwelcome, inappropriate and unprofessional comments to AB about her body and sex life.”
The complaint states that Dr. Moser made a number of inappropriate comments to AB, including telling her that he would like to be her “sugar daddy” and pay for her living expenses in exchange for sex. AB alleged that the doctor also made references to a “sugar baby” arrangement, in which he would pay her for her sexual services.
The complaint also outlines a number of other inappropriate behaviors exhibited by Dr. Moser, including telling AB that she needed to “loosen up” and “be more spontaneous” in order to make her “come to life.” Dr. Moser allegedly also made unwelcome and unprofessional comments about AB’s weight, saying that she was “ridiculously thin” and that he liked “a real woman with some meat on her bones.”
AB reported Dr. Moser’s behavior to the California Medical Board, and the doctor is now facing five charges of professional misconduct, including gross negligence, substandard care, and moral unfitness to practice medicine. The California Medical Board has also suspended Dr. Moser’s medical license pending the outcome of the case.
The alleged incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of prioritize patients’ safety and well-being, and the devastating consequences that can result from the inappropriate behavior of healthcare professionals.
