Lakers coach JJ Redick offers support with “thoughts and prayers” as family evacuates due to fires.

The Pacific Palisades, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, has been hit by wildfires, affecting Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick, who is a resident of the area. Over 13,000 buildings and 26,000 people are in the evacuation zone, which is under immediate threat, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Redick, who resides in the area with his wife, said that members of their family, including his wife’s family, have already evacuated. He offered his thoughts and prayers to those affected and expressed his concerns for their safety.

The fire has forced the evacuation of other notable figures as well, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, who was briefed by authorities on the situation, and actor James Woods, 77, who had to leave his home. Over 250 firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department and neighboring agencies are battling the blaze.

The situation is being monitored closely, with authorities warning residents to remain prepared to evacuate and to stay clear of the area to allow emergency responders to operate safely. Dry offshore winds are expected to persist through Wednesday, exacerbating the situation.

Redick spoke to the media ahead of his team’s game against the Mavericks in Dallas, expressing his concern for those affected by the fire and wishing them safety.
