Kristi Noem clears procedural hurdle for Homeland Security confirmation.

Governor Kristi Noem’s Nomination to Lead Homeland Security Advances

Governor Kristi Noem’s nomination to be the next Homeland Security secretary has cleared a key hurdle, advancing to a final vote on Saturday. Her confirmation vote is expected to take place at 11:30 a.m.

Noem’s nomination advanced out of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee by a vote of 13-2, with only two Democrats voting against her. If confirmed, she will become the fourth of President Donald Trump’s picks to be advanced out of the Senate.

Noem is expected to receive bipartisan support for her confirmation to the Department of Homeland Security. During her confirmation hearing, she emphasized her commitment to supporting the border patrol agents and ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to carry out their mission effectively.

Her confirmation vote is expected to follow votes on Treasury Secretary nominee Scott Bessent and Transportation Secretary pick Sean Duffy.
