Exclusive: King Charles’ Christmas Day Speech Seschallenged by AI

King Charles’ third public festive address since his mother’s death in 2021 has been slammed as “boring, unengaging, predictable, and uninspiring” by Google’s AI-powered large language model, Gemini.

The 17-minute speech, delivered from the Chapel of the former Middlesex Hospital in London, touched on various global conflicts, praised doctors and nurses, and discussed the Nativity story and Gospels. However, according to Gemini’s analysis, the speech failed to resonate with audiences due to four main reasons: a formal tone, repetitive themes, a focus on tradition, and a lack of specificity.

The AI model noted that the language used is highly formal, with elevated vocabulary and complex sentence structures, making it distant and less relatable to everyday listeners. The speech’s themes, while well-intentioned, are repetitive and predictable, lacking novelty and originality. The emphasis on traditional values, religious themes, and historical events may not resonate with younger audiences or those less interested in these topics.

Furthermore, the speech often employs broad and general statements, lacking concrete examples or specific calls to action, making it feel abstract and less impactful. While the speech provides a sense of tradition and continuity, offering a sense of stability and connection to the past, the formal tone and other limitations can make it “feel somewhat unengaging”.
