Two talented mixed martial artists, Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman, received better roles in the third John Wick movie than they did in the Star Wars franchise. In John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, they play the duo known as the Shinobi, a pair of ninja assassins who work for the High Table and are sent to kill John Wick. The fight scene between the three warriors is instantly memorable and showcases the impressive skills of Ruhian and Rahman.
In contrast, their roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens were disappointing. The two actors played members of the Kanjiklub, an intergalactic gang who were hunting Han Solo. Despite their skills in mixed martial arts, they were never included in a fight scene and instead fled or got eaten by Rathtars.
The fight scene in John Wick 3 is several minutes long and includes many long shots that make it clear all the actors involved are performing their own stunts. The Shinobi’s respect for John Wick adds an interesting dynamic to the fight, as they honor him throughout their battle. Even though John ultimately bests them, he also pays respect to the two assassins, making it clear that the feeling was mutual.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is the third film in the John Wick franchise, in which John Wick is on the run after having taken down a High Table crime lord. With a $14 million price tag on his head, John must fight his way worldwide to stay alive and find a way out of the situation.
In contrast, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the first Star Wars film to be produced by Disney and was directed by JJ Abrams. It teams new heroes Finn, Rey, and Poe Dameron with Han Solo and Leia Organa, who is now a General in the Rebel Alliance, as they try to track down Luke Skywalker while battling the First Order.
