Kawhi Leonard Takes Step Back from Clippers to Be with Family Amid California Wildfires

Ad

Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard will reportedly take a step back from the team to be with his family as the wildfires raging in the area continue to spread. Several wildfires have burned across Southern California since Tuesday afternoon, with the Pacific Palisades fire becoming the most destructive in the city’s history.

Leonard, who made his season debut on Saturday night, will tend to his family in the LA area who were forced to evacuate due to the wildfires. The NBA star has been out nine months due to a right knee injury recovery and hadn’t played since April 26.

Multiple people have died and over 1,000 buildings have been destroyed as thousands more have fled their homes to seek shelter. The fires have been fueled by winds that have topped 60-70 mph.

The NFL has kept an eye on the conditions ahead of Monday’s playoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings, while an NHL game between the Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames has been postponed.
