Kanye West Denied ‘Bully’ Sample By French Artist Over Politics

Ad

Kanye West has been denied permission to sample a song by French artist Frédéric Knakal, also known as Zizi, for his new album. The reason for the denial is reportedly due to Zizi’s political beliefs, with the artist stating that he does not want his music used by someone who has publicly expressed anti-Semitic and discriminatory views.

The track, titled “Bully,” was originally released in 2011, and its inclusion on West’s album was heavily anticipated by fans and critics alike. However, the French artist took to social media to express his concerns about the sampling, stating that he does not support West’s views on Jewish people.

In a statement, Zizi said, “I do not want my music to be used by someone who makes these types of comments. I don’t want my music to be a tool for hate speech or discrimination. I want my music to be a message of love and acceptance.”

It’s unclear at this time whether West will find another way to incorporate the sample into his new album or if he will scrap the song altogether. The dispute between the two artists highlights the ongoing debate about the power of art and its ability to shape public opinion and perpetuate social stereotypes.
