Judge halts release of Special Counsel Smith’s final report.



A federal judge granted an emergency request to block special counsel Jack Smith from releasing a report related to his now-suspended investigations into President-elect Donald Trump’s 2020 election interference and allegations of improper retention of classified documents. Trump was co-defendent in the legal case with William Nauta and Carlos Oliveira, who originally filed the appeal. The Judge, Aileen Cannon, wrote that Smith “is temporarily enjoin from” releasing, sharing, or transmitting the report of any drafts it outside the department of justice. However, the full report is believed to be lengthy and detailed accounting of the Investigation’s findings; it is an important step is the normal processing of the president-elect’s election and inauguration for the incoming officials.
