Around this Time Last Year, Quarterback Josh Dobbs Experienced a Turbulent Roster Ride
Just a year ago, Josh Dobbs found himself suiting up for not one, not two, but three different NFL teams. His 2023 preseason started with the Cleveland Browns before he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals, where he started the first eight games and went 1-7.
Things took a turn when he was traded again, this time to the Minnesota Vikings, who needed him after Kirk Cousins suffered an Achilles injury. Dobbs made a winning debut against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9 and went 2-2 as a starter, but his performances remained inconsistent.
This off-season, Dobbs signed with the San Francisco 49ers, leaving the Vikings after Sam Darnold agreed to join the team. With a fresh start, Dobbs is appreciative of the stability and consistency he’s found with one team for the year.
“It’s been good to be in one place for the year for sure and be around the same terminology, same teammates, same coaches, and just get consistent coaching within one scheme,” Dobbs said. “So, I’ve enjoyed that.”
With the season finale just around the corner, Dobbs will get his chance to shine on Sunday against his former team, the Arizona Cardinals, at 4:25 p.m. ET.
