Clive Davis’ 50th Annual Pre-Grammy Party: A Night to Remember
Last night, music legend Clive Davis threw an unforgettable 50th anniversary party, featuring a star-studded lineup of performers and A-list attendees. The event, which raised funds for Musicares to support musicians affected by the LA wildfires, drew an impressive list of celebrities, including Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Berry Gordy, Gladys Knight, and Jennifer Lopez, among many others.
The evening kicked off with performances by Post Malone, Shaboozey, Teddy Swims, Benson Boone, Samara Joy, Doechii, the Black Crowes, Michael Buble, and Yolanda Adams, each bringing their unique talents to the stage. But it was the rare and unforgettable performance by Joni Mitchell that stole the show. Taking her place on the stage, she delivered a mesmerizing rendition of her signature hit, “Both Sides Now,” followed by a sublime performance of George Gershwin’s “Summertime” that rivaled the many great recordings of this song.
The event was not just a celebration for the Recording Academy, but a fundraiser for Musicares, with all proceeds going towards supporting musicians who have lost their homes or require aid from the devastating LA wildfires. Clive Davis, a long-time supporter of the organization, made a significant six-figure donation, and philanthropist Iris Smith also contributed to the cause. Hilton Hotels also donated $500 to each of the attendees.
As part of the evening’s festivities, there were emotional tributes to producers Quincy Jones and Richard Perry, as well as Universal Music giant Lucian Grange, who paid his respects to UMB Music publisher Jody Gerson. Recording Academy president Harvey Mason, Jr. also shared his heartfelt sentiments about LA. The event concluded with a hilarious performance by comedian Jeff Ross, who took a bow to rally the crowd.
This extraordinary night was a testament to Clive Davis’ enduring influence in the music industry, and his dedication to giving back to those who have been affected by the devastating wildfires.
