Joel Embiid to Miss 76ers’ Upcoming Road Trip due to Knee Swelling
All-Star center Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers is set to miss the team’s upcoming road trip due to left knee swelling, the latest in a series of injury setbacks that have limited him to just 13 games this season.
The 76ers announced that Embiid had made progress in his recovery from a sprained left foot, only to experience swelling in his left knee after a workout on Thursday. After consultation with team medical staff and outside doctors, it was determined that Embiid needs additional treatment and will be re-evaluated in seven to 10 days.
As a result, Embiid will not play in three upcoming games at Indiana, Milwaukee, and Denver. This development is a setback for the Sixers, who have struggled through a season beset by injuries. Embiid has missed 26 games thus far, a trend that the team has countered with a respectable 7-6 record without him, though their overall win-loss record improves to 7-6 and 8-18 respectively, with a conference standing of 15-24 and 11th place respectively.
