Joel Embiid Sustains Sinus Fracture in Loss to Indiana Pacers
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was struck in the face during a collision with Indiana Pacers forward Bennedict Mathurin and sustained a sinus fracture. Embiid left the game just before halftime and was ruled out for the remainder of the second half with “impact to the right side of the face”. He will undergo further testing to fully assess the extent of the injury.
Embiid had 12 points, four rebounds, and five assists in 17 1/2 minutes of action before exiting the game. This is his sixth game back after serving a three-game suspension for a physical incident with a reporter and dealing with swelling in his left knee.
This is not the first time Embiid has suffered a facial injury. He also had an orbital bone fracture in 2022 after a collision with Toronto’s Pascal Siakam and another in 2018 after colliding with teammate Markelle Fultz. Last year, Embiid was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy during a playoff loss to New York.
