Former Detroit Lions Defensive Coordinator Aaron Glenn is reportedly set to become the next head coach of the New York Jets, a team he played for during his NFL career. The move has been met with enthusiasm from Jets legends, including “Broadway Joe” Joe Namath, who took to social media to express his excitement.
Namath posted on X, “I’m hoping all [Jets] fans are as thrilled as my family and I are that Aaron Glenn is our new Head Coach. I wish the season would start next week.”
Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells, who led Glenn with the Jets and Dallas Cowboys as a player, also praised Glenn’s appointment, saying, “He’s not afraid to be contentious. He’s just feisty. Not rude or impolite. He’s just willing to get his point across.”
DJ Reed, a former Jets player, also sent out a post on X, saying, “Glenn is a great look!”
Glenn’s departure from Detroit marks the second coordinator under Dan Campbell to find a head coaching gig elsewhere. He will take over a Jets franchise that has not made the playoffs since 2010.
Glenn’s appointment has been met with approval from valued members of the franchise, including Namath and Parcells. One of the big questions for Glenn and the new GM will be whether they want Aaron Rodgers to return to the Jets in 2025.
