House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, expressed his delight at FBI Director Christopher Wray’s decision to step down, calling it “great” news. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Jordan criticized Wray’s handling of the FBI, citing instances such as investigating parents who attended school board meetings, declaring pro-life Catholics as “extremists,” and retaliating against whistleblowers who came forward with information.
Jordan also mentioned that the FBI had been spying on congressional staffers and their metadata, and had raided the home of former President Trump. He stated that he will continue to oversee the FBI’s activities, citing ongoing reports that will shed more light on the bureau’s actions.
Jordan also praised President-elect Trump’s nominee to replace Wray, Kash Patel, whom he described as a “strong candidate” who is committed to “busting up the deep state.”
Wray’s resignation will take effect in January, after which he will step down. In a statement, Wray said that his goal is to keep the focus on the FBI’s mission and avoid dragging the bureau into the political fray.
Jordan was not surprised by Wray’s decision, stating that when the president nominates someone to replace an official, that official typically steps down.
