Shocker at the Royal Rumble as Jey Uso and Charlotte Flair Pick Up Wins, Earn Title Shots at WrestleMania

Saturday night’s WWE Royal Rumble was filled with shocking moments as Jey Uso and Charlotte Flair each won their respective matches to earn title shots at WrestleMania. Uso’s victory was particularly stunning as he eliminated John Cena to claim the win.

The men’s Royal Rumble match came down to Uso, Cena, and Logan Paul, with Uso ultimately coming out on top. The surprise win marked Cena’s return to in-ring action for the first time since April 2024. Earlier in the match, Cena had a dramatic moment where he stared down Roman Reigns and CM Punk before Seth Rollins entered.

Rollins would go on to snap and begin attacking Reigns and Punk before leaving the match. The situation left all three men unhappy and signaled a difficult road ahead at WrestleMania.

Charlotte Flair, making her first in-ring appearance nearly 14 months after suffering multiple injuries, picked up a convincing win in the women’s Royal Rumble. She was one of the last entrants, eliminating NXT star Roxanne Perez to secure her spot.

Both Uso and Flair must now decide whose championship they would like to aim for at WrestleMania, with options including the Undisputed WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, WWE Women’s Championship, or Women’s World Championship.

On the same night, Cody Rhodes retained his title in a grueling ladder match against Kevin Owens, and Tag Team Champions Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa retained their belts against Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley.

WrestleMania is already shaping up to be a historic event, and the next big step on that journey comes when the Elimination Chamber event arrives in Toronto on March 1.
