A Bus Carrying Jewish Students Attacked, Shouted "F*ck Israel"
A horrific incident took place in North London, where a school bus carrying Jewish students from the Jewish Free School was attacked by a group of teenagers. The attackers hurled stones at the vehicle and hurled antisemitic insults at the passengers, shouting "F**k Israel."
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers, from another school in the area, boarded one of the buses and insulted the Jewish students. The passengers were left frightened and traumatized by the ordeal. Some students escaped by fleeing the bus while others crouched on the floor for cover. The attackers even filmed the incident on their phones, adding to the distress faced by the victims.
Initially, the substitute bus driver did not report the incident, but a parent contacted the police after being notified by one of the students. The London Metropolitan Police are now investigating the matter as a potential hate crime.
"We take a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of hate crime, and work with the police to pursue anyone who is abusive to our customers or staff," Transport for London said in a statement. Transport for London and the bus operator, Uno, have pledged their support to the police investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the attack.
London Borough Commander, Lorraine Busby-McVey, branded the incident "deeply concerning" and vowed a thorough investigation would be launched. So far, no arrests have been made.
The attack highlights the escalating problem of antisemitic incidents in the UK.
