Filmmaker and Director Jeff Baena Dies at 47
According to TMZ, filmmaker Jeff Baena, best known for directing films such as “Life After Beth” and “The Little Hours”, has tragically passed away at the age of 47. Baena was pronounced dead at the scene by law enforcement, with the cause of death being ruled a suicide.
Baena was a graduate of New York University’s film program and started his career in the industry by working with famous directors such as Robert Zemeckis and David O. Russell, with whom he collaborated on four screenplays. He gained recognition through his work with Russell, specifically on the film “I Heart Huckabees” starring Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin.
In addition to his work in screenwriting, Baena also started directing his own films, including the 2014 horror-comedy “Life After Beth” and 2016’s “Joshy”. He also directed “The Little Hours” in 2017 and “Horse Girl” in 2020.
Baena was married to actress Aubrey Plaza, who he met about a decade ago. The two exchanged vows in a private ceremony in 2021, with Aubrey opening up about their wedding on Drew Barrymore’s talk show, gushing about the challenges and joys of being married to someone she works with.
