Heady Heights: Ja’Marr Chase Achieves Rare Feat
Ja’Marr Chase has etched his name in history as the sixth triple crown winner in the Super Bowl era and the 13th all-time. The 24-year-old Bengals wide receiver became the youngest to accomplish the feat in the Super Bowl era and since Don Hutson in 1936 at 23.
Chase’s impressive season has left him with a healthy lead over his closest competitors, including Terry McLaurin and Amon-Ra St. Brown. He set new Bengals franchise records for receptions and yards, while matching Carl Pickens’ 1995 touchdown standard of 17.
Chase’s hard work and dedication have paid off, with quarterback Joe Burrow praising his efforts. “He deserves it all,” Burrow said. “He works really hard for it. He’s obviously a great player, a great person. To etch his name in history like that is really special, and I’m excited to be a part of that.”
Chase’s achievement is all the more remarkable given the challenges he faced in the offseason and early part of the season. Despite believing he would have a contract extension in hand, Chase was left to prove himself leading into the final year of his rookie deal. His impressive season has likely increased his value, making it difficult for him to author a better season moving forward.
