Jake Tapper confirms Adam Schiff’s report on Biden’s memory accuracy.

CNN host Jake Tapper reminded Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., of his “relentlessly harsh” criticism of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on President Biden, despite it being “pretty accurate.” During a segment on Thursday, Tapper brought up Schiff’s questioning of President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general nominee Pam Bondi, particularly after she claimed most Americans no longer trust the Justice Department.

Schiff blamed Republicans for “trashing” the DOJ, but Tapper pointed out that Democrats, including Schiff, have also attacked the Justice Department in the past. Tapper noted that President Biden had given a “pretty harsh assessment” of the investigation into his son Hunter, and that Schiff and other Democrats were “relentlessly harsh” against Hur for making an observation that proved accurate about how Joe Biden might appear to a jury as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

Schiff argued that he was critical of Hur’s report for good reason, stating that it was done for a political reason and that it was not in line with Department of Justice policy. He also blamed Republicans for a “multi-year campaign” to paint the Justice Department as the “deep state.”

Tapper briefly explained the context of Hur’s comments before moving on to another topic, noting that Hur had found that Biden willfully retained classified materials in violation of the law, but ultimately decided not to recommend charging him based on his diminished mental capacity.
