Chargers Hoping for Rashawn Dobbins’ Return to Form
Since running back Rashawn Dobbins got injured in Week 12, the Los Angeles Chargers have struggled to find any consistency on the ground, averaging a meager 76.4 rushing yards per game, last in the NFL. However, with Dobbins’ return, the team is hoping for a boost, as he brings with him a team-leading 766 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He has the potential to surpass his career bests in both categories as soon as this Saturday.
A promising rookie in 2020, Dobbins accumulated 805 yards and nine scores, but his potential was derailed by a string of injuries. Over the past four years, he played in only 24 games, missing the entire 2021 season after a knee injury. In 2022, he was limited to eight games due to a different knee issue, and in 2023, he tore his Achilles in Week 1.
Now, Dobbins is back with the Chargers, reuniting with former offensive coordinator Greg Roman, and was a candidate for NFL Comeback Player of the Year early in the season. With another comeback ahead of him, Dobbins will aim to help the Chargers clinch a playoff berth with a win on Saturday.
