J. Cole Recalls Confronting JAY-Z Over Drake Collab Suggestion
J. Cole recently opened up about his past disagreements with JAY-Z, including a confrontational conversation they had about his collaboration with Drake.
According to Cole, Hov initially suggested that he collaborate with Drake, who was still relatively new to the game at the time. However, Cole didn’t feel that the duo shared the same musical vision, and he ultimately declined the offer.
Cole went on to reveal that their differing opinions on the project led to a heated confrontation, with Hov criticizing him for being too conservative with his music. “I was like, ‘I don’t think you understand what I’m doing’,” Cole recalled. “I think he was really pushing me to do something that I didn’t believe in.”
Despite their creative differences, Cole and JAY-Z have since buried the hatchet, and the two have collaborated on multiple projects over the years.
