Cameron Diaz Expresses Willingness to Reprise The Mask Role alongside Jim Carrey

Cameron Diaz, star of the 1994 comedy classic The Mask, has expressed her enthusiasm for reprising her role alongside Jim Carrey, who has also shown interest in returning to the franchise. Diaz’s comments came during an interview with Access Hollywood, where she was asked about the possibility of a sequel to the iconic film.

When asked if she would be willing to return to the franchise alongside Carrey, Diaz responded with excitement, stating, “Oh my god, did he say that? If Jim’s on board, I mean, I’ve been riding those coattails from day one.” Diaz’s comments suggest that she would be more than happy to return to the role that launched her career, provided Carrey is also involved.

The Mask, based on the comic book series of the same name, was a major box office success in 1994 and cemented Jim Carrey’s status as a rising comedic star. However, the 2005 sequel, Son of the Mask, was met with negative reviews and poor box office performance, leading to a lack of a proper sequel to the original film.

With Diaz currently experiencing a career resurgence following an extended break from acting, a potential return to her first starring role would be a perfect opportunity for her to return to the public eye. Additionally, with Carrey’s continued success in films such as the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, the timing for a sequel to The Mask has never been better.

Fans of the original film would be eager to see Carrey and Diaz reteam for a sequel that would do justice to the beloved classic. With both stars expressing their willingness to return, it’s hoped that a suitable story can be found to lure them back to the franchise.
