Israel’s attorney general launches probe into Sara Netanyahu over allegations of witness harassment.

Israel’s Attorney General Orders Investigation into Sara Netanyahu’s Alleged Witness Harassment

Israel’s Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara has ordered an investigation into Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after a report alleged that she had harassed opponents. The investigation is centered around a Channel 12 report that aired last week, which alleged that Sara Netanyahu had intimidated a witness in her husband’s criminal trial and indirectly harassed the attorney general and the deputy state attorney.

In response to the report, Prime Minister Netanyahu defended his wife, describing the Channel 12 report as “biased” and “false propaganda.” He also insinuated that the network should investigate the left-wing camp, but stated that it would not happen, hinting at political bias.

The investigation may be just the latest development in a long-running saga that has seen Netanyahu, the first sitting Israeli prime minister to face trial, deny allegations of fraud, breach of trust, and bribery. Netanyahu has been accused of receiving gifts, seeking favorable coverage in a newspaper, and advancing regulatory benefits to a friend.

The move has drawn criticism from some quarters, with Justice Minister Yariv Levin describing the attorney general’s order as “extreme selective enforcement” and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stating that it is a “shame” that the attorney general continues to serve. The trial, now in its third year, is ongoing, and this latest development promises to bring further intrigue and drama to the already-controversial case.
