In deleted tweets, Trump’s incoming AI and crypto czar argued Trump Jan. 6 rhetoric not covered by First Amendment

Tech-Entrepreneur David Sacks, Soon to Be White House Czar for AI and Cryptocurrency, Criticized Trump’s Language Leading Up to Capitol Riot

David Sacks, the incoming White House czar for AI and cryptocurrency, has a history of defending online free speech. However, when it came to Donald Trump’s rhetoric leading up to the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, Sacks had a different opinion.

Before deleting his Twitter account, Sacks wrote multiple tweets criticizing Trump’s language and actions. On January 11, 2021, Sacks wrote that “speech can be regulated under the First Amendment in ways that would have taken down the most incendiary tweets of Trump and the other rabble-rousers.”

Sacks went on to criticize Trump’s claims of election fraud, saying it was “incitement, not 1A protected.” He also said that Trump would be prosecuted for his actions.

In an interview with CNN, Sacks said that his opinions on the events of January 6 had changed over time and that he updated his views based on new information. He repeated claims that the media, Democrats, and Big Tech had manipulated the narrative to discredit Trump.

Sacks, a known ally of the cryptocurrency and AI industries, has been a critic of the Biden administration’s tech oversight policies and is expected to push for less restrictive federal regulations on the rapidly growing sectors.

However, Sacks’ deleted tweets reveal a complex and critical stance on Trump and the January 6 riot, with many criticizing Trump’s false election rhetoric and calling for prosecuting those who participated in the riot.
