Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials are planning a major enforcement operation that will target immigrants in various locations across Chicago, starting as early as next Tuesday and continuing through the next Monday. According to a confidential document reviewed by NBC News, Operation Safeguard has been scheduled in multiple locations within the city and will involve several hundred agents from ICE and partnering agencies.

This operation is designed to carry out President-elect Trump’s promise of mass deportations, with hopes of removing more than 100,000 deportation targets in short order. Current estimates put the number of illegal immigrants living in the U.S. at roughly 11 million, with no clear end plan for what this means for current residents or migrants already living without documentation.

Many experts are bracing for consequences of this proposal, citing inflated costs for policing and potential issues with goods like food, in addition to estimates that as few as 16% of detainees have actually demonstrated criminal behavior worth deporting by ICE. Prior to the Obama administration, numbers of deported detainees reached an record high of more than 468,000 at one time annually.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker mentioned he plans “to follow a law and look after undocumented victims” when an ICE enforcement was planned. But the U.s. authorities officials, under plans of Tom’s Homan at the forefront edge, would only like a significantly larger capacity compared to their detention facilities in Los Angeles and so on, although there isn ‘t an assurance of that right now.

Some sources said earlier that a broad operation might look at a great deal of America’s main neighborhoods, and after the 100,000 to 11 times, including locations such as Baltimore, Chicago Chicago, New The New York District, Washington region, as said.
