On Friday, the 29-year-old suspect, identified as Luis Miguel Torres-Rodriguez, was taken into custody by ICE enforcement actions at his residence in Denver. Torres-Rodriguez is a Salvadoran national and has been living in the United States illegally.

Tren de Aragua, also known as the “Train of Aragua,” is a violent gang with roots in Venezuela and a known presence in the United States. The gang is primarily composed of members who have fled the political instability and economic crisis in Venezuela, but who have brought their violent activities with them.

ICE officials have charged Torres-Rodriguez with re-entry of a removed alien, a felony offense. He is being held at the Adams County Detention Center pending removal proceedings.

According to ICE, Torres-Rodriguez was previously removed from the US in 2012, but re-entered the country illegally. His arrest is the latest in a series of actions taken by ICE against suspected members of the gang, who are known for engaging in acts of violence, extortion, and human trafficking.

“This arrest is a significant blow to the Tren de Aragua gang and demonstrates ICE’s commitment to targeting and removing criminal aliens who pose a threat to public safety,” said John Murray, the Field Office Director of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Denver.

The Tren de Aragua gang has been involved in a range of criminal activities, including drug trafficking, weapons violations, and violent crimes. Its members are also accused of committing horrific acts of violence, including murder, rape, and kidnapping.

ICE’s efforts to target the gang are part of a broader strategy to address the crisis at the US-Mexico border, which has seen a significant increase in the number of unaccompanied alien children arriving at the border. The agency is working closely with its law enforcement partners to identify and arrest suspected gang members, as well as to provide support to vulnerable migrant populations.
