Jennifer Love Hewitt Joins the Cast of the I Know What You Did Last Summer Legacy Sequel
Jennifer Love Hewitt is set to reprise her role as final girl Julie James in the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel, which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2025. The news was announced on her official Instagram account, which featured a photo of her looking into a mirror covered in notes that read “I know what you did last summer,” a nod to the original film.
This marks Hewitt’s return to the franchise, which she originated in 1997 when she starred in the original film, followed by the 1998 sequel. The new sequel, which is currently in production, will feature a new cast, including Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Jonah Hauer-King, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, and Lola Tung, alongside Freddie Prinze Jr., who is set to reprise his role as Julie’s love interest, Ray Bronson.
It is unclear how much the new film will focus on Julie’s character, but with the script already being developed with her return in mind, it is possible that her storyline will take center stage. The addition of Hewitt to the cast could provide the nostalgia boost the franchise needs to succeed at the box office, potentially leading to a new era of success for the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise.
