Ahead of major geopolitical tensions, including international conflicts and economic concerns in the 2024 elections, the United States experiences its own set of worrying statistics. According to new FBI data, some metropolitan areas in the US surpass others in terms of per capita violent crime rates in 2019. On top of the list appears St. Louis, with a staggering 2,041 violent crimes per 100,000 people during that year.

Detroit,Michigan, ranks second, trailing closely with 2,056 felonies per 100,000 people.Just a few decades previous, Detroit was once prospering as an industrial beacon, but it has dropped an astonishing 63%, or nearly 100K people, between 1030 and 2018.
The Top 5
The top five states for violent crime are; Baltimore, Maryland (over 1,800 for 100,000 ); Memphis, Tennessee (slightly over 1K per 100K ).
While the numbers are ominous, crime rates across United States have been in moderate decline.
