The Greatest Raiders of All Time: A Top 10 List
The Oakland Raiders are one of the most storied franchises in NFL history, with a rich legacy of winning and a plethora of talented players who have donned the silver and black. FOX Sports Research has compiled a list of the top 10 greatest Raiders of all time, based on their on-field performance and impact on the franchise.
10. Charles Woodson (1998-2005, 2013-2015)
Woodson made an immediate impact for the Raiders, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year and 63 out of 64 regular-season games in his first four years. He made eight All-Pro teams and earned nine Pro Bowl nods, and was the 2009 Defensive Player of the Year.
9. Ken Stabler (1970-1979)
Stabler led the Raiders to their first-ever Super Bowl title in 1976 and is still the franchise’s all-time leader in quarterback wins with 69. He won both the MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards in 1974 and led the Raiders to five consecutive conference championship games.
8. Willie Brown (1967-1978)
Brown was an instrumental part of the 1976 Raiders team that won the Super Bowl, returning a pick-six 75 yards in the big game. He was named to an all-league team seven times and helped the Raiders reach three AFL title games.
7. Ted Hendricks (1975-1983)
Hendricks is considered one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history, making six All-Pro teams and earning eight Pro Bowl selections. He was a four-time Super Bowl champion and played in 215 consecutive games.
6. Tim Brown (1988-2003)
Brown spent 16 of his 17 seasons with the Raiders, earning nine Pro Bowl selections and setting numerous franchise records. He is one of 12 players in NFL history with at least 100 receiving touchdowns.
5. Howie Long (1981-1993)
Long was a defensive anchor of the 1983 Super Bowl champion team, earning eight Pro Bowl selections and being named a first- or second-team All-Pro five times. He is one of 17 players in NFL history to have five sacks in a game.
4. Marcus Allen (1982-1992)
Allen was one of the most electric players in NFL history, rushing for 12,000-plus yards and 100 touchdowns. He was named MVP of the 1984 Super Bowl and won MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards in 1985.
3. Art Shell (1968-1982)
Shell spent his entire 15-year career with the Raiders, starting 169 games at offensive tackle and earning six consecutive All-Pro selections. He also became the head coach of the Raiders for seven seasons.
2. Jim Otto (1960-1974)
Otto is considered one of the greatest centers in NFL history, playing 15 seasons with the Raiders and earning 10 All-AFL selections. He started in 210 consecutive games in the regular season and played in 308 games as a Raider.
1. Gene Upshaw (1967-1981)
Upshaw played all 217 of his career games with the Raiders, starting 207 consecutive games and earning 11 consecutive All-League or All-Conference selections. He was a two-time Super Bowl champion and AFL champion.
