The QB Stock Market: End-of-Season Rankings
Now that the NFL regular season has come to a close, we’re taking a look back at the quarterback stock market and reflecting on what we’ve seen all year. Despite roughly half of these QBs heading into the postseason, we’re putting performance into a vacuum, ignoring their stats from Weeks 1 to 18 to get a holistic view of what they brought to their teams throughout the season.
1. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills (Previous ranking: 2)
Allen consistently showed up, earning praise from Damar Hamlin for being the Bills’ best player “every f—–ing Sunday”.
2. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens (3)
The dynamic QB proved why he’s so dangerous, playing like the Ravens’ best option every week.
3. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals (4)
Missing the playoffs could mean his accomplishments went unnoticed, but Burrow’s 2024 season earns him a strong ranking.
4. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (16)
With Jeff Hurd serving as his trusted OC, Goff emerged as one of the NFL’s most talented QBs.
5. Sam Darnold, Minnesota Vikings (25)
The Carolina Panthers’ upgrade in the pocket earned him rave reviews, highlighting Darnold’s improvement and making him one of the 2024 “Most Improved”.
6. Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (20)
Since joining Tampa two years ago, Mayfield has excelled, producing eight touchdowns and four interceptions per week.
7. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs (1)
A rough 2024 season saw the usually elite quarterback playing down to his opponents. Mahomes showed no signs of being the all-conquering force we see.
8. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers (12)
The rookie combination of Justin Herbert and Sean Harbaugh produced disappointing results, especially when facing higher-ranked teams.
