[Palestinian authorities have released 183 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons, following an agreement between Israeli and Palestinian authorities. The deal was facilitated after Hamas, a Palestinian militant organization, freed three Israeli hostages they had been holding captive.
Under the agreement, Israel will transfer the bodies of 100 Hamas fighters killed during Israeli military operations, and would also allow Gaza to open sea and land corridors to export their goods. Palestine, on the other hand, will release more than 3,000 of its prisoners detained in Israeli custody.
The news comes as both sides attempt to ease tensions between them. While the release is seen as a significant step, it is important to note that many of these prisoners were already serving time under house arrest.
