The Israeli government has confirmed that Prime Minister Netanyahu has spoken with Alexander’s family following the release of the video, and has received an “important and exciting sign of life” from Alexander. The US State Department has been reached out to for comment on the matter, but CNN cannot independently confirm when the video was recorded.
