The Possibility of Deion Sanders as the Next Dallas Cowboys Head Coach
The NFL world was abuzz earlier this week with the news that the Dallas Cowboys parted ways with Mike McCarthy, sparking speculation about who could be the next head coach of the team. One potential candidate, Deion Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Cowboys star, received an outpouring of support from fans and former players alike.
Drew Pearson, a Hall of Famer and former Cowboys wide receiver, hopped on the Sanders bandwagon, expressing his support for Coach Prime returning to the pros to roam the sidelines for the team he won a Super Bowl with in the 1990s.
“He’s capable,” Pearson said. “There’s no question he has the qualifications to do it. He paid his dues. He came through the ranks, and he’s proven it each step of the way that he knows what he’s doing.”
Sanders, who is currently the head coach at the University of Colorado, has a successful coaching career in the high school and college ranks, and many believe he has the potential to be a successful coach in the pros.
However, it remains unclear whether the Cowboys are seriously considering Sanders for the head coaching position. Sanders claims to have talked to team owner Jerry Jones about the job, but did not rule out the possibility of staying at the university to coach his sons in the NFL. “To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing,” he said. “I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”
