Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr says he avoided watching President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday, choosing instead to review game tape.
When asked by reporters if he watched any of the inauguration festivities before the Warriors took on the Boston Celtics, Kerr replied, “I didn’t watch the inauguration. I chose to watch Celtics tape.” He also stated that he enjoyed playing on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The Warriors suffered their worst home loss since Kerr took over as head coach, falling to the Celtics 125-85. Kerr has been a vocal critic of Trump among sports figures and spoke at the Democratic National Convention in August, supporting Vice President Kamala Harris in the election.
After the election, Kerr stated, “I’ll be getting out every day to help people get out to vote on Nov. 5 and elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz as the next president and vice president of the United States.” However, Trump went on to win the election, and Kerr later stated, “I believe in democracy. I think the American people have spoken and voted for Trump. I want him to do well the next four years. I want our country to do well.”
