Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton was hit brutally by Texas linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. during the team’s SEC Championship win on Saturday night. Stockton, who replaced injured quarterback Carson Beck, was scrambling up the middle of the field when he was hit by Hill and two other Texas defenders. His helmet flew off and he had to leave the game for a play.

Despite being injured, Stockton had helped the Bulldogs get down to the Longhorns’ 12-yard line, and on the very next play, running back Trevor Etienne ran into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown. Stockton finished the game with 12-for-16 passing for 71 yards.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said after the game that Stockton did not suffer a concussion and was prepared to return to the game, but the game was already won. Beck is expected to miss next week’s game, potentially earning Georgia a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff.
