Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene faces backlash for questioning a reporter’s accent.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene Highlights Reporter’s Foreign Accent, Suggests “Throwing Out” Foreign Press

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) recently highlighted the foreign accent of a reporter who asked White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices in the aviation sector. The interaction occurred during a news conference at which Leavitt explained the executive order terminating DEI hiring practices at the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA).

Greene praised Leavitt’s response and publicly criticized the reporter’s accent, suggesting that “non-American” press should be “thrown out” in favor of American media. She wrote on social media, “How about that accent from that reporter? I think we need to throw out all the foreign press! American media first.”

Greene’s comments come amid controversy surrounding Trump’s views on DEI. The former President has blamed DEI for weakening the FAA and has called for the elimination of the initiative across the federal government. Greene’s support for Leavitt’s stance on DEI hiring practices has drawn criticism, with some arguing that the practice of considering diversity, equity, and inclusion in hiring decisions is essential to ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the aviation sector.
