George Nolfi to script Rey’s Jedi Order movie, a new era of Star Wars begins.

Star Wars: New Jedi Order Finds New Screenwriter with George Nolfi

Director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is set to helm the latest installment in the Star Wars franchise, New Jedi Order, which will star Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker. The movie has been plagued by development issues, with a revolving door of screenwriters, including Steven Knight and Justin Britt-Gibson. George Nolfi, known for his work on The Bourne Ultimatum and The Adjustment Bureau, has now been tapped to pen the screenplay.

The project was initially set for a December 2026 release, but it was recently reassigned to Ice Age 6, casting doubt on the film’s progress. The latest announcement suggests that development is still ongoing, despite the changes.

It’s unclear if Nolfi’s screenplay will stick to the original story idea, which follows Rey as she trains the next generation of Jedi 15 years after the events of Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. The slow progress could be a sign that the project is focusing on its cinematic aspects.

Nolfi’s selection marks a shift away from other writers with primarily TV backgrounds, such as Lindelof and Knight. His experience in the sci-fi genre and ability to navigate pre-established franchises could be beneficial for rebuilding the project.

While it’s uncertain if Nolfi will ultimately be the final screenwriter attached to Star Wars: New Jedi Order, he is a solid choice for the job. With a string of successful films under his belt, he has the skills to navigate the complexities of the franchise and deliver a compelling story.
