Fresno State Hires Matt Entz as New Head Coach

The college football coaching carousel is in full swing, with several high-profile schools already making moves to revamp their coaching staffs as the 2024 season comes to a close. Here’s a breakdown of the latest hires and departures:

* Fresno State hired USC assistant head coach and linebackers coach Matt Entz as its new head coach. Entz previously served as the head coach of North Dakota State from 2019-2023, winning two FCS championships during that time.
* Michigan fired offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell following a disappointing season, overseeing one of the worst offenses in the Big Ten. Whoever replaces Campbell will have a chance to improve Michigan’s quarterback room with the recent addition of Bryce Underwood, the top-ranked prospect in the Class of 2025.
* Nebraska hired interim OC Dana Holgorsen to the full-time role after he helped improve the offense during his short tenure this season. Holgorsen signed a two-year deal to stay with Nebraska.
* Oklahoma hired Ben Arbuckle, Washington State’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, to take on the same role with the Sooners. Arbuckle has overseen an excellent offense at Washington State over the past two seasons, averaging 440.4 yards and 36.8 points per game in 2024.
* Florida Atlantic hired Texas Tech offensive coordinator Zach Kittley as its next head coach. Kittley has overseen a dynamic offense at Texas Tech since 2022, including a top-10 in yards and points in his first season with the school.
* FSU hired Nebraska defensive coordinator Tony White to take over as the Seminoles’ next defensive coordinator. White previously served as the defensive backs coach at Arkansas, Penn State, and Cincinnati prior to joining Matt Rhule’s staff at Nebraska.
