Global Semiconductor Stocks Surge as Foxconn Announces Record Revenue

Ad

Global semiconductor stocks jumped on Monday after contract electronics giant Foxconn reported record fourth-quarter revenue, hinting that the artificial intelligence boom has further room to grow. Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, announced its quarterly revenue reached 2.1 trillion New Taiwan dollars ($63.9 billion), a 15% year-over-year increase.

The company’s revenue growth was driven by a surge in cloud and networking products, including AI servers designed by chipmaker Nvidia, as well as components and other product segments. Computing products and smart consumer electronics saw a slight decline, according to Foxconn’s statement.

In response to Foxconn’s numbers, shares of several semiconductor companies across Asia, Europe, and the US rose. Nvidia, for example, climbed more than 3%, while Microsoft’s announcement to invest $80 billion in 2025 on data centers capable of handling AI workloads also boosted chip stocks. Microsoft is planning to use GPUs from Nvidia to train and run advanced AI models.

Other semiconductor companies that saw gains include AMD, Qualcomm, and Broadcom, with AMD and Nvidia closing up more than 3%, and Qualcomm and Broadcom climbing over 1%. In Asia, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. hit a record high and closed up almost 5%. SK Hynix and Samsung in South Korea, and ASML and ASMI in Europe, also saw their shares rise.

The surge in semiconductor stocks is a positive sign for the AI industry, suggesting that the technology has significant potential for growth in the coming years.
