According to officials, at least 45 reports of tornado damage were made in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia, with crews assessing the damage and conducting surveys to confirm the occurrence of tornadoes. The storm caused treacherous road conditions and flight delays at several U.S. airports, including Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which saw over 600 flight delays on Sunday afternoon.
In Texas, at least one person died after a tornado struck the Houston area, where a 48-year-old woman was found about 100 feet from her home with the cause of death yet unknown. Another woman was also killed in Alabama after a tree fell on the pickup truck she was driving.
Additionally, two people died in storms in Mississippi, while a 70-year-old man was killed in North Carolina after a tree landed on the truck he was driving. More than 600 homes and buildings were damaged, and thousands were left without power as the storms left a path of destruction in its wake.
