Former NFL quarterback seeks NFL comeback after coaching high school team to championship.

Former NFL Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater May Return to the League After Coaching Miami Northwestern to State Title

Former NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who coached Miami Northwestern to a Florida state title over the weekend, suggested in an interview with the NFL Network that he hopes to return to the professional ranks. Bridgewater won the state title with Miami Northwestern, his alma mater, and has had a successful first season as head coach, leading the team to the Florida Class 3A title.

Bridgewater, 32, was a first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2014 and was a Pro Bowler in his second season. However, his NFL career was nearly derailed by a near-career-ending knee injury in 2016. He made a slow recovery, playing in 15 games from 2017 to 2019, and was a starter with the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos in 2020 and 2021, but failed to stick with another team. He last played with the Detroit Lions in 2023.

Bridgewater, who is returning to the NFL, expressed his intentions to his team, saying, “That’s the plan. My team knows that’s the plan. We wanted to win a state championship and then coach goes back to the league, see what happens, and then come back February in the offseason, continue coaching high school football. We’ll see how it plays out.”

It is unclear whether he has been in touch with any teams, but Bridgewater will likely be a sought-after quarterback given his experience in the NFL.
