Vancouver Canucks star J.T. Miller takes indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons
Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller has taken an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons, the team announced Tuesday. Miller, who has played for the Canucks since the 2019-20 season, has appeared in 17 games this season, scoring six goals and tallying 10 assists.
Miller’s departure leaves a significant hole in the Canucks’ lineup, but the team is committing to supporting him through his personal issue. “Right now, our sole focus is making sure that J.T. knows the entire organization is here to support him,” said general manager Patrik Allvin.
Miller’s teammates are also rallying around him, with captain Quinn Hughes saying, “We have a lot of confidence in the guys we have here. Coming into the year we thought we had a contending team, and it’s not just one guy, it’s our whole group.”
The 32-year-old forward has been a key player for the Canucks, finishing last season with a career-high 103 points, including 37 goals and 66 assists. His absence is a significant blow to the team, but the Canucks are committed to supporting him through his personal challenge.
As teammates sent their well-wishes, Jonathan Lekkerimaki said, “We wish him well in his personal matter, and we’re here to support him, the whole organization.”
The team did not provide information on what prompted Miller’s leave, but the entire organization is committed to supporting him through this challenging time.
