Florida Officer Catches One of FBI’s 10 Most Wanted Fugitives

Local Florida Police Officer Arrests Man on FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives List during Routine Traffic Stop

A routine traffic stop turned into a major game-changer for the Lady Lake Police Department in Florida, when Sgt. Michelle Bilbrey apprehended a man on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. Donald Eugene Fields II, 60, was arrested around 9:15 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27/441 and Rolling Acres Road.

Bilbrey ran Fields’ vehicle’s license plate and discovered it was not registered to the car he was driving, leading to his apprehension. Fields is facing federal charges of child sex trafficking and state charges of child rape. He has been a fugitive since March 2022 and was added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list in May 2023.

The FBI’s Special Agent in Charge, Ashley Johnson, commended the local officer and her department for their proactive policing, saying “Thanks to proactive policing by the Lady Lake Police Department, one of the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted fugitives has been captured.”

Police Chief Steve Hunt praised Bilbrey and the department for their vigilance and dedication to everyday policing, saying “Sometimes, an everyday traffic stop turns into a real game-changer. This is a reminder that every officer, every day, is out there making a real difference.”
