Florida Mall Murders Linked to Retired Agent

Here is the article:

It’s been 18 years since a South Florida community was rocked by a series of murders and a kidnapping at a local mall, and a retired FBI agent who worked on the cases for over a decade believes the crimes are connected and that the killer may still be “out there.”

In 2007, a mother of two, Randi Gorenberg, was killed after shopping at the Boca Raton Town Center Mall. Less than five months later, a mother and her 7-year-old daughter, Nancy Bochicchio and Joey, were found dead in their SUV in the same mall’s parking lot. A few months after that, a mother known as Jane Doe was kidnapped with her 2-year-old son from the same mall’s parking lot.

Retired FBI Agent John MacVeigh, who investigated the three cases for 10 years, believes that all three crimes are connected and that the killer may still be alive. MacVeigh said that the suspect in all three cases used similar tactics, including using blacked-out swim goggles to bind and control the victims.

MacVeigh also believes that the crimes are connected because of the time of day they occurred. All three crimes took place in “broad daylight” and “right around the same time.” Additionally, the suspect in all three cases seemed to be “a little bit sympathetic” towards the victims, MacVeigh said.

Despite a massive investigation and the collection of several hundred pieces of evidence, including DNA samples, the cases remain unsolved. MacVeigh said that he continues to get calls from investigators who are still tracking down new leads and working on the case today.

The Boca Raton Police Department and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office have said that they are still optimistic that technological advances will lead to a breakthrough in the investigation.
