A 29-year-old Florida housekeeper was arrested and charged with multiple crimes, including robbery, after allegedly assaulting and stealing from her 83-year-old employer on Christmas Eve. Heather Nelson’s victim, a woman who told her she couldn’t afford a $500 Christmas bonus, was attacked by Nelson when the woman refused to pay the demanded amount.
According to authorities, Nelson took a checkbook from her employer’s hand, stole a check, and then taken Christmas cards containing checks meant for others to be mailed out. Investigators said Nelson also used her victim’s credit card to make purchases, including paying her own rent.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey called Nelson a “Grinch” who “went too far,” and criticized her actions as “ruining other people’s Christmas as well.” The sheriff added that Nelson nearly broke her employer’s wrist during the incident and used the stolen check for $1,400.
Nelson was taken into custody after her employer’s check was cleared and credit card transactions were posted. She is facing charges including robbery, battery, forgery, and other crimes. Her bond was set at $30,000, but she was released on Thursday.
